Research in Dr. Trueswell's lab focuses on language processing. We are especially interested in understanding how people are able to incrementally interpret speech and text. Much of the work focuses on how people use their grammatical knowledge of a language to develop a partial interpretation of each word and phrase. This work makes direct ties to work done in Psychology, Linguistics, Computer Science and the Institute for Research in Cognitive Science.
