Emergent features of higher level language processing: Functional neuroimaging studies
The talk will include a brief introduction to the central problems in neurolinguistics, an overview of the imaging methods that have been used to study brain-language relationships, and the paradigms that have been employed in these studies. The body of the talk will address the advantages and special problems associated with imaging at the discourse/narrative level, and present a review of our lab's PET, fMRI, and EEG studies showing emergent patterns of neural activity associated with production and comprehension of language at level of discourse.
