An Introduction to Research at the Annenberg School for Communication

This will be a brief overview of the Annenberg School, given by Dean Delli Carpini, whose research explores the role of the citizen in American politics, with particular emphasis on the impact of the mass media on public opinion, political knowledge and political participation; and a few examples of some of the specific research being done by Diana Mutz and Deborah Linebarger. Diana Mutz teaches and does research on public opinion, political psychology and mass political behavior, with a particular emphasis on political communication. Deborah Linebarger is interested in both new and traditional media and how attentional processes are guided by the features inherent in each medium especially as it pertains to the cognitive and social development of young children.
