Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

This web page contains answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the workshop. We received many email requests about how to apply. Our web page is now updated to include an on-line application form and application information.
The deadline for applications is March 1, 2007.

Several additional questions were asked about workshop funding, etc. We have provided preliminary answers to the questions below. If you have more detailed questions about this or other issues please send email to ircsconf@seas.upenn.edu.

  • 1. Is there a separate application for financial aid?

    There is not a separate application for financial aid. All admitted participants will be provided with some compensation for travel and lodging (in Penn dorms); the amount is yet to be determined.

  • 2. Is enrollment limited?

    Yes, there is limited enrollment, and selection will be based on the quality of the application.

  • 3. Is prior cognitive science or cognitive neuroscience knowledge a prerequisite?

    No, prior knowledge of cognitive science or cognitive neuroscience is not a prerequisite.

  • 4. Is this program open to freshmen (who will technically be sophomores when the program starts)? What about seniors?

    All undergraduates are welcome to apply, but those who are *now* sophomores or juniors will be given priority (i.e., those who going to be juniors or seniors next school year).

  • 5. Can people who are not U.S. citizens apply?

    Yes.

  • 6. What kind of reference or recommendation letter should I ask for?

    Please direct the faculty members you have asked to write recommendation letters for you to the following webpage for instructions.
